2019.8.30 – Saxe Weekly

August 30, 2019

Dear Saxe Family,

Welcome to the first edition of the Saxe Weekly for 2019-20. Each week we will share and celebrate some of the many awesome sights, sounds, and activities from around the building. There are amazing things happening at Saxe, every day, and we feel that it is important to share as much as possible with you. This is part of what makes Saxe a truly special place!

We began the year by asking parents, staff, and students what their “hope” is for this year. It was a profound way to start, but the responses speak for themselves. You are welcome to see the actual boards below, but the message from each group was clear and consistent. In addition to the reasons that we are all here; to teach, learn and explore, everyone would like to see students happy, confident, included, and having fun! This will be something that we will revisit, and will be part of our theme, throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who participated in this meaningful exercise.

Finally, thank you to everyone who made the start of the 2019-20 school year a successful one! We look forward to carrying this positive momentum forward. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

*Quotes that resonated with us this week:

“The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.”

“Life doesn’t require that we be the best, only that we try our best.”

What is your Hope for this year?

130+ responses from parents on what they “Hope” for their child this year.

And, what our staff “Hope” for their students this year:

Around Saxe

The first buses to arrive, and the first students in the building, on “Day 1”!

Recess is an important part of a middle school student’s day. We could not have asked for two more perfect days to be outside!

Students enjoying the ever-popular Saxe Cafe…

Helpful 7th-graders assisted 5th-graders in getting familiar with the building. What a terrific way for our community to come together!

Grade 6 began their Executive Function “Boot Camp” this week. A great way to set our students up for success where they need it most.

Many activities in the opening days consisted of getting to know each other and establish a positive learning environment. In my estimation, “mission success”…

Saxe’s “Strongest”! We could not be more fortunate to have such a dedicated, kind, caring custodial staff. The building looked amazing for opening week and it is all because of this group of pros.

The Saxe Cafeteria Crew. They are a terrific, hard-working, friendly bunch and we appreciate them!

Your Saxe Administrative Team! Dr. Ferreira (Grade 8), Dr. Clapp (Grade 5), Mr. Bedard (Grade 7), Ms. Visners (Special Education), Mr. Gusitsch (Grade 6).

We are grateful for our Central Office Administrative Team! Here they are traveling to each building on the first day of school…

A couple more pics from opening week!

Have a great week!
