December 10, 2021
Dear Saxe Family,
This week we experienced our first “snowfall” (a dusting qualifies in my book), the holiday spirit is ramping up, and we have much to be grateful for as we trek down the final few weeks of 2021. I am grateful for the tremendous staff that we have at Saxe who are willing to pitch in and help each other out whenever the need arises. This ultimately allows us to continue to maintain our focus on our most important responsibility – caring for our students!
This week in the Saxe Weekly you will see some of this in action as we take a look at EI, STEM lunch clubs, an opportunity to join our team, 12 Days of Wellness, NCHS Buddies spreading some sunshine, some serious Saxe spirit, a “Saxe Elf” sighting, building relationships, some snowy scenes, and much more… Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!
Be Well,
Dave Gusitsch
Principal, Saxe Middle School
Upcoming Noteworthy Dates:
12/17 – Saxe Spirit Day – Pajama Day
*Quotes that resonated with us this week:
“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.” – Mother Teresa
“We must remember that one determined person can make a significant difference, and that a small group of determined people can change the course of history.” -Sonia Johnson
“The difference between school and life? In school, you’re taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you’re given a test that teaches you a lesson.” -Tom Bodett
“If you are working on something that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.” — Steve Jobs
“A positive atmosphere nurtures a positive attitude, which is required to take positive action.” – Richard M. DeVos
Emotional Intelligence in Action
7th and 8th-grade students applied some of their EI (emotional intelligence) skills to collaborate and strategically build a cup pyramid. Teamwork, empathy, resilience, and regulation were all on display as they worked together to accomplish a common goal!
