2023.1.27 – Saxe Weekly

January 27, 2023

Dear Saxe Family,

To be perfectly honest, it feels strange to type this is the last full week of January (already?!). This week was filled with concerts, snow (sort of), a transition to a new quarter, and celebrations of all kinds. To all who celebrate the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rabbit was welcomed this past Sunday – Happy New Year! 2023 has begun at a fast pace, but we are looking forward to making the most of each moment that helps make Saxe Middle School the special place that it is.

This week in the Saxe Weekly, we take a look at upcoming Daytime Open Houses, Math, another look at Shark Tank, the Kebbi Robot, the Design Lab, Teen Talk Counselor, winter’s attempt to bring some snow, Saxe sunrises, the amazing Orchestra concert, creative ways to include our students, a special orchestra quartet visit, Vex Robotics, Science, 7Blue Town Hall, and much more. Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!

Be Well,

Dave Gusitsch

Daytime Open House

Grade 6-8 teams will host their program within their respective team classroom area. For parents who are unable to attend during the scheduled time, slides will be made available to share the content that was covered. Teachers will review team progress made thus far in regards to meeting local and state curriculum standards, address practices that have promoted an academically, emotionally, and physically safe learning environment, and offer an academic introduction to the 3rd marking period. We hope you can join us!

Tweet Street

Below are photos and phrases that were included on our Saxe middle school Twitter page (@SaxeMS) this week. Enjoy!

We were able to get each grade level out for recess before the snow started to steadily fall! 6th-grade got to enjoy a little dose of winter while getting some fresh air.

Some great photos from this morning, by Saxe staff members… Thanks to Mr. Weise & Ms Beltran for these amazing shots!

It looks like the weather is cooperating and we are looking forward to our Orchestra Winter Concert this evening! A little dusting of snow earlier sets the scene nicely!

The Winter Concert is about to start….it’s a perfect night to enjoy some music and it’s another packed house.

Best wishes to our Orchestra program on their Winter Concert!

A “behind the scenes” look during our Orchestra Winter Concert! Off to a great start…

7th-graders finish their set with a nice rendition of “Eleanor Rigby” – amazing talent!

8th-graders round out the evening with “Big Sky Country”! Bravo!

What a fun way to welcome a new student from another country! Thanks to Mrs. Rende for finding a creative way to make our student feel included!

Our 6th-grade band students are getting “tuned up” for their upcoming concert next week… From the sound of it, they are ready!

From performance to Q&A, our Saxe students had an amazing opportunity to experience musical art at the highest level! Thank you to the Dali Quartet & Orchestra Lumos for spending time and sharing your talents with our kids! Amazing, mesmerizing performance! Our students are so fortunate to experience this level of mastery, up close. Very inspiring!

Some sweet Vex Robotics action in G5 Science this week! 🤖

Caught this nice “positivity board” on a walk around Saxe today… Great Daily Inspiration!

Some interactive action to study erosion in G6 Science!

7Blue celebrated their students during a Town Hall meeting today… Great to see our teachers recognizing their students in such a positive manner. Nice work and congrats to all! #SaxeConnects

Have a great week, see you next Friday!

Thank you to all of our Saxe Weekly contributors! Each weekly edition is an example of collaboration in action. A special thanks to Lauren Sherwood for the continuous stream of positive, optimistic quotes!
