Dear Saxe MS Family,
It is amazing to think that today wraps our 4th week of school, already! It has been a great start to the school year, and we all have so much to be proud of. Each week, we share important reminders and just a few snapshots of some of the rich learning experiences, candid moments, or even fun activities that go on in any given day at Saxe MS. We appreciate you scanning through and seeing just a bit of what makes our learning community so special!
This week in the Saxe Weekly, we take a look at after-school clubs & activities, Picture Day, Open House, our PTC Welcome Back Coffee, grade-level meetings, yearbooks are on sale, welcome to a new staff member, staff PL, some Math fun, Saxe in the News, scenes around Saxe, Science, healthy activities, Art, special moments, Library, Dogs of Saxe, and much more. Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!
Be Well,
Dave Gusitsch

Saxe MS After School Clubs

Registration is now open for Middle School Clubs! Please visit the Saxe Website for the brochure of clubs available. Then, you may use this link to register your child(ren). Activities begin next week, September 22nd, and run through January 16th, 2026. Check out the wide variety of offerings below and stay tuned for more examples of our students in action in the coming weeks!

Picture Day

Friday, September 26th, is 7th & 8th Grade Photo day! You should be receiving an email from Legacy with ordering information, but in the meantime, you can feel free to use the QR code below to get the process started. There are also hard copies of the order form in the Main Office. We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s picture in the Saxe Yearbook this year!

Open House, 2025
We are excited to welcome our 7th & 8th grade families in for the Saxe MS 2025 Open House next Wednesday (9/24)! Below you will find the letter that went out earlier this week and the sample schedules that parents will follow. Parents will follow the same core schedule their child follows next Wednesday (9/24), and meet the Special Area class they saw that day as well, but students will bring home a completed schedule prior to Wednesday.
Please pay special attention to the parking note! 🙂
Note for Parents on Parking
If you have ever been to a large-scale event at Saxe, you will recall that parking is not one of the stronger qualities of our otherwise beautiful campus. To that end, NCHS and South parking lots will be available for you to park. With just a short walk down Farm, some of those spots may actually be closer to where you will be attending classes throughout the evening. For anyone who is able, we encourage walking, riding, or carpooling to help make the evening a success. Thank you for your support!

PTC Welcome Back Coffee
What an amazing venue (and, day) to hold our annual Saxe PTC “Welcome Back Coffee”… Thanks to all involved – it was a great meeting & we appreciate all who came out to attend. We look forward to partnering on some terrific projects to help make the student experience the best it can be! A special thanks to NCPS Superintendent, Dr. Luizzi, for joining us as well!

Grade-Level Meetings
This week, we met with each grade level to review important rules, guidelines, & expectations. We are so grateful to have such an amazing bunch of students who care about one another, and our school community! If you would like to check out the slides that we shared with our students, you are welcome to view them here: 2025.9.18 – Grade Level Meetings. Below is the message that went out to parents, and a few pictures from the meetings.

Middle School Yearbooks On Sale!
It’s not too early to start thinking about this year’s yearbook! Please see the information below to order yours now!

Staff Professional Learning
This week, we went over some important mandates that can be “heavy” in nature. Nonetheless, they are important & need to be covered. However, we can also end on a positive note by having staff reflect on inspiring moments from the start of the school year! 7Blue stayed late & were “locked in”! 🙂

More Math Fun
Thanks to Ms. Graham for sharing that 9/16 was “Pythagorean Triple Day”!

Below are photos and phrases that were included on our Saxe Middle School page (@SaxeMS) this week. Enjoy!

One of the most important things we do each year is to onboard new staff. We are excited to have our new Social Worker, Ms. Bagley, join the Saxe MS team for the 2025-26 school year! Welcome aboard, Katie!

One of our Campus Monitors shared an article in the most recent “Bedford & New Canaan Magazine” that features one of our SaxeMS students… Thanks for sharing, Robyn & congrats, Harper! Keep up the great work, you make us all proud!

In flipping through the pages, it was noticed that two of our former Saxe MS students were also recognized. Congrats, Zane & Michael… Even though you are over at NCHS now, you still make us proud!

Grass has been cut, trees have been trimmed, & the campus is looking great as we prepare to welcome parents in for our Saxe MS Open House next week! Thanks to all involved…

The Saxe MS ”Morning Crew” is keeping the streak alive by getting out & getting active before school each day! The unbelievable stretch of great weather has been an added bonus… No better way to start the day – keep up the great work!

Caught a Saxe Bday at arrival this week – hope it was the best one yet!

This Brassica Rappa in #SaxeScience classes is used to help our Saxe MS students learn about genetics & mutations. Amazing to see how quickly it grows & how the lessons learned apply to our own bodies!

Bikes & scooters of all sizes & styles have been loading up the bike racks outside Saxe MS each day. We love to see so many students traveling to school in this manner each day! “Pack The Racks At Saxe!”

Saxe Art is BACK! We love seeing all of the Saxe MS students’ work, talent, & creativity on display! Do you have a favorite?! Students – can you find yours?

Ms. Orlando does not waste a moment during Saxe MS arrival… So many students have a morning ritual with her & they ALL start the day on a positive note, with a smile! #RelationshipsMatter

Thanks to our creative #SaxeLibrary staff who put together this little “Flair” that we found in our mailboxes this week! We appreciate all that you do for our Saxe MS students & learning community!

The amazing talents our Saxe MS staff members have never cease to amaze me… Check out the unbelievable photo that Ms. Jarosik was able to capture last week – awesome!

Dogs of Saxe
This was one ”chill” pup (Mable, I believe)! We love when Dogs Of Saxe ride along to drop off their humans at Saxe MS morning arrival!

Have a great week, see you next Friday!
Thank you to all of our Saxe Weekly contributors! Each weekly edition is an example of collaboration in action. A special thanks to Melissa DiMeglio for the continuous stream of positive, optimistic quotes!
